I enjoyed doing the tutorial. But when I used different colours and set the mode to dodge I didn't get anything like your result. Just all the same colours. [link] that was my result. I also had troubles with the border.

Um, I am new to GIMP, got it earlier this week, and am interested in learning, I saw the brushes and I really liked them, and I dl and installed them, and was trying to follow your tutorial, but I'm having a little bit of trouble. The part where it says "set layer to dodge", I cant seem to find the button to do so. Also, my first image (where you first start brushing) doesnt look as cool as yours, mine is like thick colors, whereas yours seem smooth and transparent. Can you help me out?

Can you tell me how you cut the first image so clearly? Ive tried to do a cartoon but I cant figure out how to cut the background out of it. do you just get them from a website?(the render photo)

The picture of Yoshi was taken from PlanetRenders [link] It comes pre-cut so it has a transparent backgorund so that you can simply just paste it into your work. If you would like to make your own renders, there are 3 possible methods. A tutorial for each can be found here. [link] I prefer the Paths Method but the choice is yours. Good luck.
